About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Application Administrator (Salesforce), supports and administers the Salesforce environment at American Public Education, Inc. (APEI). This role ensures the platform’s availability, functionality, and accessibility, managing Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and various AppExchange applications. Responsibilities include system configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and integration, as well as mentoring support staff and collaborating with development teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to implement scalable and efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer the Salesforce platform, including Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and additional apps.
- Design and implement solutions such as custom objects, workflows, validation rules, approval processes, and flows.
- Integrate applications with Salesforce using connectors or APIs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop solutions leveraging Salesforce functionality.
- Translate business needs into actionable solutions, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Drive data integrity and operational reliability in partnership with Business Operations and IT.
- Document, review, test, and approve changes prior to deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with SDLC processes and participate in change management activities.
- Occasionally provide on-call support and manage after-hours deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in IT, with at least 4 years in Salesforce implementation and support.
- Hands-on expertise in Service and Marketing Cloud, Apex, Process Builders, Visualforce, Lightning, SOQL, Flow, and Platform Events.
- Proficient in Community Portals, Omni-Channels, Batch Processes, and Azure DevOps.
- Salesforce Administrator and Developer certifications are strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with Salesforce APIs (SOAP and REST) and data loading tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
